Songs for ghosts ~ Clara Kumagai ☆ Book Review

Heey!

Isn’t this cover just gorgeous? It attracted me along with the spooky Japanese ghost feels of the novel.

I liked the dual narration between past and present, the past being told via diary entry. Opposed to the other Japanese Ghost story that I had read, The girl from the wellI find this one more poetic and respectful- As our past MC plays music to appease the ghosts.

Slowly we can make correlations between Adam, our present MC, & the nameless girl from the past; until she suddently appears to him and demand he help her. Furthermore, we learn that his new friend is also tangled in this; as she get hungrier, they’re racing against time trying to find her stolen son Haru. First needind to find our who she is, that is nowhere into the diary.

The novel starts on a slower pace, as Adam completely finish to read the diary and get to Japan. However, in this story, I didn’t minded it one bit. It took me greater time to read it however, as I have been having trouble overall with any books- which i’m sure would’ve had taken away some of the enjoyment that this book would’ve deserved.
