Steeped in Love ~ Julie Evelyn Joyce ☆ Review

Good morning!

I have my first review of September for you today! I’m honestly not too sure why I picked up this book at my library to start, but it was showcased on Libby’s homepage for my library’s “Together we Read” (From August 15-29.. i’m a little late).. and I decided to try it!

Goodread’s Page

4 / 5 stars

You know how much I love novels happening in a Coffee Shop, as i’m a barista myself, so I was pleased to see that this was where ~80% of the action was!! It’s also the only one i’ve read that includes tasseography in it, and while using it for dating is kind of “unusual” it was still taken pretty seriously. Abby really believed in the leaves’ power, as it was something her great-aunt passed onto her, and I gotta say it was quite interesting.

The romance is being told in a switched POV from Abby and Ethan, our two main characters. While some may not enjoy this “lagging” type of romance, This is something I quite enjoy; We all know there’s an attraction going on from both sides, and YET one of the two decide to not pursue it and hop on another train instead (or atleast try) as they are persuaded that they wouldn’t work. It was even better as we could see both’s thoughts VS how their reactions looked like from the other party.

Of course the beautiful happy ending took tears out of me .. Just, the cheesiness of it all, the healthy relationship, the tale of finally going with your guts and having everything falling perfectly how it should.

Are you also a fan of “lagging”, cheesy romance?
Did you read this book before, or now planning to?

  1. Hey Kristina! Just saw your review on Goodreads and followed you to your blog for the full version. I’m so, so glad you enjoyed Addie and Ethan’s story, and even more glad that you took the time to share your thoughts and recommend my book! You totally made my day! 🙂

  2. I AODRE lagging cheesy romances! They make the best kind <3 Especially if they're all slow-burn goodness with imperfect characters. My recent fav read like this was Marriage for One by Ella Maise. Have you read it? I think you may enjoy it 🙂 Great review!
