Supermarket ~ Bobby Hall ☆ Review
Hello!!
Alex had already read and reviewed this book on here before, which you can access his review ‘Right Here’. Being a huge fan of Logic, he just had to read the book he recently came out with.
Having loved it so much, he wanted to share it with me and thus lend me his book! As you know how much I love reviewing all that I read over here.. let’s have TWO reviews on it – one from my POV, and one of Alex’s.
5 / 5 stars
This novel started out wierdly.. confusing me a bit starting on a “crime scene”, going back in time to have some notion of what’s going on, to continue and then going back in time yet AGAIN for the full thing to be clear. If you’ve been here before, you know my brain just don’t specially like those and It don’t tend to end well 😂 having me full confused..
As the story progressed, I wasn’t too too sure of my opinion on it; until it happened. The first describing of the panic attack our character Flynn had, which got me to hold my breath and breathe too slow or too quickly and having me to take conscience of my breathing to get back to a normal breathe. I was sucked into the story from that moment on; I was hooked. I then started to have theories onto what I thought was happening in that « Open scene » at the very beginning and suspicions started — as let’s remind ourselves that this novel is a psychological thriller, as of which I didn’t really knew the “why” it was that genre before that point.
What I discovered at the end of “Part One” left me on the butt! I had maybe half of it right, but the biggest part of our mystery I was nowhere to even imagining that! Well, to be honest I had a suspicion a few times, but just thought it would’ve been too big or something; and I GOT DUPED!!
The novel is written in first person POV; Flynn is telling us his story, breaking the forth wall quite a few times at the beginning. Being a debut novel from this music artist, i’m quite stunned how realistic it felt – Flynn, the story, even the characters ! Though we know i’m not an expert of book writting, and specially not in english, it was just a excellent work to me.
When I thought this book wouldn’t make me cry.. surely enough it did. And I wasn’t out of my surprises with more plot-twists than I could imagine – leaving on a kind of cliffhanger where the reader can interpret the ending however they find fitting.
Yes! I love psychological thrillers!!
Oh me too ! and this one was one hell of a ride, indeed.
Ah I love psychological thrillers, I think I’ll have to go check this one out! I’m glad to hear you really enjoyed it! Might be a new author to keep an eye out for 😀
possibly yeah ! I don’t know if his next one would be a thriller though, I’ve been hearing Sci-fi
