The best things about Japanese fictions
Helloo,
We are yet again reunited to talk about japanese fiction (or healing fiction) ; probably one of my greatest find! I’m so happy this became a trend!
Related; my new favorite genre: healing fiction
The topic themselves are on point, virtually all of them have coffeeshops, cats and libraries. Plus, they all have the main character have an internal growth, seemingly at peace. They feel very comforting, and you can even learn things too- like astrology in the full moon coffee shop.
Each book have the same format of multiples stories with different POVs, BUT where all the characters are linked together- I find this to be very interresting, I like that. They’re also on the rather short side, between 2-300 pages at most; despite almost all of them being hardcovers, and smaller than your regular A4/A5 sized books.
One of the most bestseller to me isn’t just the cats in the stories, it’s how they’re treated as real characters and is a constant in the stories! Love me when the animals are not only props but treated as secondary characters; even main POVs at times!
What gets me every. Times. Is where characters literally speak to the cat as if they’re gonna answer them!! Like, in every book that i’ve read, someone will ask the cat a question AND immediately realize with a “pff- as if it was gonna answer me” π i melt everytime. I’m also guilty ahah
While i’m not a fan of serie in french nor english, I can’t get enough of these! I belately find they made another full moon coffee shop or we’ll prescribe you a cat? I need it! I wanna read them all!
Have you discovered these yet?
Which book is your favorite?

I love this kind of fiction!! I’ve become a bit obsessed with them and I find it’s a great way to relax between big fantasy epics lol
Yes! Definately a good palate cleanser!
I’m honestly so happy seeing this become a trend – and right around when I’m trying to read more translated works. They’re also super quick to read, too, which is really nice between the tomes publishing seems to be churning out these days.
Yes! I love the format of multiple smaller stories in a book, especially for nonfiction & it’s so easy & fast to read.
