The caught in the vibe VS could never be me Book Tag (In or Out book tag)

Good morning!

I  found this one on Marija’s blog, and as i’ve been having quite some fun snooping into their thoughts about thoses bookish tropes and/or things that ofcourse I’ve been wanting to do it too! 👀

This In or Out book tag was created by Rick MacDonnell of Booktube fame

❤︎  Reading the last page first

Technically, I don’t do this.. However, it does happen that i’ll skip and snoop to the last page of the novel in the instance where my romance novel will have a 80% breakup scene and i’d wanna know if it ends in a happy ending or if I can throw the book at the wall 😬

Verdict; ..torn in the middle

❤︎  Enemies to lovers

Ofcourse i’m a LOVER of this trope, 110%. The last one that I enjoyed being The last chance books“.

Verdict; Caught in the vibe!

❤︎  Dream sequences

As I tend to stay away of fantasy or what I deem as “too much imagination needed” books since my bad MH flare couple years ago.. I actually haven’t met this one yet 🤔

Verdict; (??) Undetermined

❤︎  Love triangles

While they made a valid point that authors could very easily turns this into polyamory situations instead, I’m not absolutely hating it. They mainly doesn’t bother me and i’d read the book anyway.

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  Cracked spines

Now- it’s not that I care much if it does happen, or if someone else has a book with a broken spine.. but personally, not for me. I think only a few of my book has a cracked spine.

Verdict; Could never be me

❤︎  Back to my small town

Ohh now I do adore this too!! Being from a rather small town myself, I know exactly how things usually go down 👀  Everybody do be gossiping about everyone, aswell as knowing everyone’s parents & grandparents..

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  Monsters are regular people

While I do like thrillers as a genre, I can’t say i’ve read much of this one either.. However, I don’t think i’d hate it- as I do love to remind myself we are 3-dimensional people and not solely one thing specifically.

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  No paragraph breaks

As you can probably tell, I do love my paragraph breaks – WAY too much indeed. Out.

Verdict; Could never be me

❤︎  Multigenerational sagas

Again.. I don’t read thoses kind of novels. However, it had been pointed out that they’re mainly in historical fiction, and yeah that’s not my jam.

Verdict; Could never be me

❤︎  Re-reading

Oh, how I used to re-read so much growing up! I barely do it nowadays if i’m being honest.. however, the re-reading factor do have it’s importance when I do my reviews. Would I reread this? if the answer is YES, it’d be a good review.

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  Artificial intelligence

Ithink i’ve read one book with that kind of material, The inexpected inlander, and again i’m not quite sure it fits the definition .. As stated above, this is what I deem it needs to much brain power that I’m lacking atm 😬

Verdict; Could never be me

❤︎  Drop caps

I had to check what that meant.. but yeah! anything that is aestically pleasing to look at and help for easier reading, i’m good with!

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  Happy endings

As previously stated on the first point; I DO very much need my happy ending, thank you very much. If I wanted something not to end happily, i’d go in real life 🤣 give me my stories where love always win, please!!

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  Plot points that only converged at the end

Yes- absolutely love when you get to that stage where everything just makes sense and there was a purpose for all the “extra information”.

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  Detailed magic system / Classic fantasy races

Putting thoses two together; as we know I don’t have the brain power to read thoses.. And I didn’t wanted it to be too repetitive 😅

Verdict; Could never be me x2

❤︎  Unreliable narrators

An absolute love!! Either for thrillers or YA mental health reps books – I find that Ruth Ware handle this one particularly well, i’m thinking of One by One per exemple.

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  Evil protagonists / The chosen one

Again, merging two together here.. as it’s again mainly done in fantasy- and we stated many times that I don’t read that. While I do have a thing for Chosen one in videogames.. I don’t specifically see it portrait in my books

Verdict; Could never be me x2

❤︎  When the protagonist dies

I have a condition for this one.. While I might be okay for this in a thriller (though I might not be okay with it), It’d be different in a contemporary; as I’d most probably fell for them in said contemporary 😬 And not wanting them to die.

Verdict; ..Torn in the middle

❤︎  Really long chapters

I personally prefer short chapters, as it seems that thoses get by so much quicker! As i’m also one who can’t put it down anywhere else than on the chapter gaps, it’s way easier for me to bring a book with smaller chapter to work, or generally with me.

Verdict; Could never be me

❤︎  French flaps

While I do prefer deckled edges.. I’m not against this book aesthetic, I kinda like it too. Though again- I did needed to google what this was xd

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  Deckled edges

*aherm* I genuinely do like thoses- not only the aesthetic but also running my hands in it 😅 The spiderwick Chronicles serie had been the first of thoses I had ever gotten.. and I just thought it was so cool! Loved it ever since..

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

❤︎  Signed copies by the author

While I had maybe two signed copies in my life.. I don’t particularly care for this one either.

Verdict; Could never be me

❤︎  Dog-earing pages

Nope, not for me – Though i’m not against doing it, I just love bookmarks way too much for dog-earing. I’d rather use one of my 6 prefered bookmarks instead.

Verdict; Could never be me

❤︎  Chapter titles instead of numbers

Yes!! This one I do love. Even better if you have a little quote or something to go with it.

Verdict; Caught in the vibe

Tagging everyone who wanna do it too ❤️
