Helloo,
I’ve finished my first novel out of my Winter TBR, but it’s also my first “Holiday with a twist” type of books; Thrillers and Christmas books definately go together in my opinion.

Although it’s really not the same plot nor even the same details, It gave me the vibes of Ruth Ware’s The death of Mrs Westaway, which I absolutely loved!
The Christmas game consist of a clue given out all twelve days of Christmas, the answer giving out where a key would be hidden. Additionally, the riddles forming the clues will also serve Lily to find out the truth behind her mother’s murder, twenty-something years prior.. which had been ruled as a suicide.
The riddles were so smart and intricate- containing anagrams on words that are seemingly out of place, and also a false path to lead the players in the wrong. Lily was so strong at them, honestly I couldn’t figure them out myself 😅
I was not ready for the reveal, proving itself to be so much more intertwined and complicated than I would’ve first thought; going even further than the game itself.
Similarly to Lily, guess I am not a good judge of character either.. though it’s a bit different “knowing” a character through reading than you would a real person, I got yet again fooled.
