The Forgotten Memories of Vera Glass ~ Anna Priemaza ☆ Book Review

Good morning,

Another book knocked off my Autumn TBR; one that gave me a bit of trouble, but got me to see how much better I have gotten since I last got sick many years ago. Makes me feel really proud ❤️  I might not be able to go into high fantasy still, but some light magical realism I can do.

I’m happy of the progress i’ve made, as this is the kind of book I would’ve had been completely LOST and wouldn’t had been able to finish before — the MC losing pieces of her memory, things were changing as the book progressed. Things as: people changing names or « disappearing », where suddently they didn’t exist, when they had been in the start of the book.

I found myself flipping to earlier pages a few times to make sure It was what was happening 😅  That made me really invested of wanting to know what the hell was going on, and what the witches were doing.. be it completely unrelated or not.

I found quite lovely how everyone had a little piece of magic in this universe. Simple little aptitudes like being able to unlock things or being able to light things up being normal.. and yet having trouble believing in witchcraft or magic as a whole.  I’m quite loving those little fantasy elements while the rest of the story are realistic life as we know it.

Although I know the book is not theoretically about depression itself; but the way they’ve been speaking about what feels wrong about the world and the mysterious “thing” thar’s missing from them quite resonated with me.

« Cruel. It’s brutal to take something from someone without letting them know what’s been lost. To be left to mourn.. nothingness. How are you supposed to grieve? »

« You’re lucky, i want to tell her, To not have this darkness inside you, threatening to consume you, to tear you part from the inside out. »
