Here we are; first read finished in September.. aswell as the first book knocked off my Fall TBR 👏🏼 Getting closer to have read all books published by Ruth Ware, only missing “The turn of the Key” now.

Despite having some medium-lenght chapters, this book took me quite a while to read, even if i’d read 2-3 chapters before bed most days. As all of Ruth Ware’s writing, it felt very atmospherical.. I even felt the need to stay in and read in specially gloomy days of heavy raining instead of going to work 😅
Following the 4 friends was quite interresting to read; I admire the strong bond between them, and how they are always there for each other since they were in boarding school. No matter what happens or happened, they all care very deeply for each other – being their only family left for most of them.
The mystery around what they did stays until about mid-way until the book – we know they did something terrible, that had appeared back to bite them from so many years ago, but we have no idea what actually happened. Getting clues by droplets until finally it is revealed to us; and now we are caught wondering how this would end.
Like all of Ware’s novels- the reveals in the end was nothing like what I was expecting.. She masters the art of dropping specific informations at specific points, holding some for you to paint a picture of what you “think” is hapenning. To finally reveal the actual truth of the murderer at the very last second before the curtain drop.
Making the relationships and lies so well, that I was absolutely floored when the last rumor that ended up being the truth revealed itself; just like our main characters, I couldn’t believe this story is what truly happened 15yrs ago.

Let me see if I’ve got this right. The book is about four people who met at boarding school and are attending the same university. At some point during their lives together, they did did something terrible which they’re trying to forget. However, this secret is revealed for some reason. Is that the gist of it? Is the book about their friendship or the secret?
They all split and left- it’s 15yrs later so two of them are now mothers, and they all have careers. Id say both? But the secret mainly, as it resurfaced from their past and jeoparty all that they built.. potentially bringing them to prison, lose their career/children/etc.
