The Midnight Library ~ Matt Haig ☆ Review

The Midnight Library ~ Matt Haig ☆ Review

Good Morning!

This was my first fiction novel from Matt Haig; loving his non-fictions so much, and this book having received so many hype from the book community! It’s also the third book knocked off my Summer tbr.

I’m also ofcourse wanting to read his newer book, the comfort book, as soon as I knock some more books off my physical tbr to buy it :p

4 / 5 Stars

I quite loved the concept of the midnight library, although the premise of Nora’s wanting to end her life was kinda harsh at first.. and how Haig’s plant the explanation of the behind the scene of said library, which made quite some sense!

Through the librarian’s voice, he slipped quite some nice quotes & little life lessons — not only towards Nora, but for us readers aswell. I also enjoyed the philosophy part of the novel, Nora’s passion in her “root life”.

Her different situations of lives we got to live with her was quite interresting, all so different from each other! It’d make you think about what our life could’ve went to in other circumstances- although it is most definately never what we thought it would. Sometimes, the best option is the one who truly make you happy, rather than the one you deem to be “successful” at; as of which our concept of success is based off bullshit criterias.

Some people followed her in all of her lives.. when some of them don’t. Friends get out of touch, some were never met when X didn’t happened, new ones got in.. and some might’ve passed away. I do like to think that no matter what happens between your life, your souls will always find a way into each other (like in the glaciologist life).
