The other side of perfect ~ Mariko Turk ☆ Book review
Helloo!
Yet again a book I should’ve read a long time ago, but stayed on my shelves way too long. I’ve had always dreamt of being a dancer, and I absolutely LOVE dance romance movies & tv shows.

5 ⭐️ / 5 stars
Absolute chef’s kiss. I was so tangled within the story & with her pain that I just couldn’t stop reading once I started. I would LOVE to see this book on screen adaptation.
It deals beautifully with grief and having to plan for something you wouldn’t thought would be taken away from you; moving on, and finding your new path. Amazing friend group, not only with nice support systems from them, but also seeing them break apart & make up again.
Alina’s working against her lesson learnt from ballet to just do what’s expected from you and shut it. We’re giving some thoughts about racism in classical ballet, and leaning toward changes. Our MC’s also realizing not everything broken cannot be fixed, unlike her leg, most times you can put the work to fix things.
paraphrasing on a too long quote; “grief is like a puppy. At first, you gotta care for them all the time. And as time passes, the puppy grows, becoming an adult dog and needing less care than in the puppy phase. but it never really go away.”
” We cried because doing something brave didn’t always make you feel brave. We cried because fixing things was hard, and change was slow. We cried for all the ways that loving something with your whole heart can also break it at the same time. “
