The reading deadlines VS what I really wanna read ..
Hello all !
Like a few of us have, I’ve been accepting/requesting way too many books in thoses past months and now struggle to finish them all. Which, i’d like to finish all thoses on “deadlines” before going to my real to be read shelf and go back to my printed books (as, internationnal oblige, all of thoses I got was e-books only.)
Let’s take a look onto what thoses are, shall we ?
The deadlines reading ;
I’ve been fairly good on this point ! It’s something I’ve started keeping track of in June, which the total of everything i’ve put on it from June to September is 13.
That being said, I have only 3 left !! I’m gonna give myself the challenge of attacking and finish all of thoses before October;
- From June’s, I have the french arc of “When dimple met richi” by Sandya Menon; From NetGalley. The publication date was April 4th ..
- From July’s, There’s “Angels can’t Swim” by Alexandra McCann; from a review request. Publication date on this one was June, so thanksfully she was pretty open as of when she wanted the review ..
i’m sorry(finished on Sept 14th; review coming this monday!) - Lastly from August’s, we have “The general theory of haunting” by richard Easter; from NetGalley. I was preapproved by the publishers and when I saw this one in my emails newletters .. I just couldn’t resist. I’m a fan of everything ghost haunting (specially real stories !). This one was published in 2017, so last one in the pile, really..
Thoses who’s been eyeing me;
- “reasons to stay alive” by Matt Haig; last one I bought and this one was my #Bookishwish. I finally found it at my local bookstore !! (was so hard to see ahah)
- “radio silence” by Alice Oseman
- “A totally awkward love story” by Tom Ellen & Lucy Ivison
- “Under rose tainted skies” by Louise Gornall
- “The nerdy and the dirty” by B.T. Gottfred
- both “The woman in Cabin 10” and “The death of Mrs Westaway” from ruth ware
Now it’s your turn ! Tell me, What do your obligated/deadline reading VS books you really wanna read looks like? Do we have any books in common?
Ohh I really hope you love Reasons to Stay Alive and Radio Silence! I love Alice Oseman. <3
I hope I like them too ! ive heard lots of good things 🙂
None in common with you Kristina but I do have 3 books on my “deadline” and 2 are for 2019 and one for November 2018 so I have time 😉 I try to tone down the ARCs LOL
yeah xD good idea ahah – I finished one and is onto when dimple met rishi now. Last one will be good for blogoween and I also requested another one for it too ! And of course the second of the gilded king. Ithink I will finally see the end of them !!
Radio Silence, Under Rose Tainted Skies and A Totally Awkward Love Story have been on my radar for a long time. (I need more timeee).
Hopefully we’ll both enjoy them !
After i spent the whole July reading netgalley books, i kinda gave up on deadlines. I actually quite liked all those books, but i bought some other ones i really wanted to read.
I felt a bit bad but then i realised this is supposed to be my hobby and i should read for the enjoyment factor.
Deadline is for jobs… 😀
you are absolutely right ! Go you !
Before school stated, I was 1 month ahead in ARCs (not counting books I requested before my 2-year blogging slump), and now that I’m in university, I’m 1 month behind. 😂 And my non-review copy TBR is still even looooonger. I wish I could read fast! I also hope you love Radio Silence–I haven’t read it myself, but I’ve heard amazing things about it!
uhoh, yeah- im a slow reader too ! how I wish I could read as much as I used to, again .. oh well. eventually we will read them, right?
I’m very much drowning in ARCs and I’m trying to alternate them with non-ARC books I want to read because like Norrie said, I don’t want to spiral into anxiety over something I do as a hobby. 😀 And I really enjoyed the one Matt Haig book I read, so I hope Reasons to Stay Alive works out for you!
Ive been following Matt’s twitter for a while, for something he said and someone retweeted it (i didnt even know of his books before!)– so I sure hope I do too ! I’ve been wanting to read that one for a while, specially as i’ve been depressed quite “badly” some years ago; id love it if it could help me in a way.
I love how candid he is about mental health in his tweets and his books. I read his How To Stop Your Time and there was this one passage that was just so uplifting and motivational, I ended up bursting into tears. Fingers crossed this book does the same for you! <3
aww I love when a book does that !! just that kind of stop in the middle of the sentence, id read it back like 5times.. and then write it somewhere, everywhere I can ahah just thoses sentences that make your brain go “ping!!”
and yes I know !! I love his twitter !
I have so many ARCs it is hard to keep track of them. My plan is to try to read those that have far far away deadline – so at least I do not feel guilty and slowly read some that are way overdue. I join a monthly linkup called State of the ARC and the numbers are always hunting me.
But there are so many books that are not ARC that I want to read too! It is a struggle!
I dont think id have enough to participate ahah – sounds like a good plan though !
I know.. perks AND curse of being a book blogger ..
