Good morning!
Yes, we are theoretically a week late for this one, as we should be posting about the opposite.. but listen, I needed time to think it through and checkout other’s posts 😅 We are doing the May 23rd prompt, evidently things that makes me instantly want to read a book.
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Using different Medias/Unusual writings
My absolute FAVORITE to read is emails/letter formats. Knowing a book has this included in it is a direct win – but also podcasts, police interviews, etc.
A-spec characters, preferably main characters
I feel more and more confident to call myself Ace, so naturally whenever I stumble across a book about a A-spec MC, i’m all in!
[Books that help me figure my identity]
There’s a DOG character! (Or cat)
One specific however, the dog must be used as an extra character and not like an item- where it appears and dissapears and it just.. doesn’t make sense where they go in some parts of the story. Even more exciting if it’s a dachshund, with it’s proper breed character!
[Where do the dog stand in the narratives? / Books in the pet industry I need!]
Books about books..
Stories with writers MC, or Librarians.. or even book bloggers or book lovers hit particularly different! Even better if there’s references and relateable moments.
Unlikeable characters / Unreliable narrators
While many might find that annoying, I actually genuinely like those. I tend to like *most* characters, even those that are generally unliked. I do also have a things for the MC telling a story that ends up not quite being the truth.. that ofcourse we only learn that truth at the end.
Please let me know any recs of books I should check out if the descriptions fit some of those !! Also, here’s my first version of this post back from 2019 – there’s a few that are similar.. but alot got added on my journey!
Do we have some in common? What are yours?
I love animals in books too! Especially if they have a big role to play!
Yes that’s honestly the best 🥰
unreliable narrators are twisty sometimes and it felt good reading it!
Yes! Love me that final plot twist that makes you reconsider the whole story
We like reading books with unreliable narrators too!
Love to hear! ☺️
I like books with unreliable narrators too! Especially when they’re really unreliable so I have to figure things out for myself 🙂
Yes! A bit confusing at first, but so much plot twist!
