Vacation book haul (July ’26)

•

Good morning!

I’m back from vacation 😌 and of course I found some books, so let’s look at them!

First, we went to Renaud-Bray (a Quebec version of Chapters/Barnes and nobles) where I only bought a single book, after losing myself for literal hours in the store 😂 It was gigantic and had LOTS of different knacks; so much more than our indigo does.

Then, we found a secondhand bookstore called Eco Books, Where I got the next 3 for a steal- which I like because I tend to really have trouble to decide on which books to buy as i’m unsure if I will like them.. while there it was like $6 per book, so I really didn’t stress as much. I’m happy I got the follow-up book to one of my most loved book that I reread a good dozen times, that we don’t have in my town, and i’m pretty sure it came from France as the price on the jacket is in Euros.

While I was browsing at books, I got suddently attacked by grief.. A dad a couple of rows over was talking with his daughter, and so happened to call her by a nickname I haven’t heard since 2009, the very same way my grandfather used to call me. Instantly tears came to my eyes, my mom looked over at me like ‘wtf?’ as she didn’t heard it 😅 Astonishing how grief never truly leaves you, it’s been a couple decades since he passed..

Here’s the books I got;

  • La maison Abandonnée, Joel A. sutherland
  • La septième vague, Daniel Glattauer
  • Not here to be liked, Michelle Quach
  • L’appel de Cthulhu, David Bédard

Have you read these?
Which books had you bought lately?
