Good morning!
This month started great reading wise.. and then it switched midway into more gaming obsession, having bought two new games: Best friend forever & Spiritfarer, Both on the Switch. So here’s my kind of ramble review of thoses two games 😜
Best Friend Forever // Steam, Nintendo Switch

This had been one that had been on my wishlist for a while- a mix between a dating sim & rescue dog simulation. First you’re moving into this new town known for their pet-to-human ratio, being the most dog-owned town. Which leads up to us going to adopt one following our moving; the dissapointment of not having a dachshund, as there’s only 4 different breed (Maltese, Shiba inu, Mutt & staffordshire terrier), but I was allowed to adopt a raccoon!!! even better, it was named Trash!! 🤣
One-part of the game is to take care of the pet we choosed, raising their education stats aswell as caring for it’s needs, while the second part of it is the dating. We have 6 bachelors to pick from; 3 boys & 3 girls.. While I had been wanting to go for the true crime lover librarian, I got really taken up emotionally with virtually all of them- so far i’ve replayed the game twice to be able to live the romance with them 😬 (I’ve picked the two boys in the far-left).
It’s a rather smaller game for my taste, as we only play for 15 weeks of gametime.. so maybe 3-4hours of gameplay. However, as you get attached to the 6 of them, it’s “easy” in that sense to replay it to give another one a chance and see where things go. It’s the type of game where you can pick how you react to things, so it changes your gameplay a bit- which I find pretty cool, I’ve always loved thoses!! Bit of a downer that we can’t pass certain cinematic however, as it’s kinda tiring to go through all the speechs after your first gameplay.
Spiritfarer // Steam, Nintendo switch, Ps4, Xbox One

I did had started a game at my friend’s months ago, as of which I found the beginning to be kinda meh- and was in no intention to actually get it. Until i’ve seen Meeghan talk about it on her December Wrap up and well, I had been thinking about it ever since ;-; I tried out the demo and finally I decided to get it. (only 5hrs before the 50% off sale ended.. PHEW!)
This game is truly stunning, an artistic and emotional take on death; as we’ve became the new spiritfarer, it’s now our duty to help spirits passes through onto the afterlife. On the contrary of the past one we just discussed, this game is HUGE; which is more in my taste. the map itself is so big.. with many different island for us to navigate, and few minigames unlocked by the spirits’ fear (which get us special crafting items).
This simulation have so many things to do; the sidequests, cooking, gardening, fishing, mining, crafting.. I’ve also bonded emotionally with the spirits in this game too, Alice being my most favorite.
The only struggle that i’ve gotten, was because I used all my marbles that I had gotten before the ship upgrade to break rock.. making me unable to go in the section of the map that I needed to because my ship wouldn’t pass the rocks, and I couldn’t go in the marbles mine because I couldn’t unlock the shrine allowing us to slide on the cords with our hats 🙃 You can say I really lost my marbles for a while before I could unstuck myself of this one.
Have you played & enjoyed thoses games too?
Both of these games sound fun and relaxing. I love simulations and should play more of them because it’s good escapism. Spiritfarer sounds right up my street. I love the premise and might get it on Steam.
Yess hope you enjoys! I do love a good sims game where you spend like 4hrs of playtime but feels like a minute 😅 not a fan of the ones you finish in a breeze
I have just started playing Spiritfarer and am enjoying it so far.
Ooo thats good to hear- hopefully youd keep enjoying it ☺️
Spiritfarer is already on my wish list! Just waiting for a good sale, plus I already have a billion unplayed games! But I did just add Best Friend Forever to my wish list now too; it sounds super cute and fun!
Happy I could make you discover a game!! Im sure spiritfarer would go on sale again x
