Ways to use a Bullet Journal when you have nothing to plan

Good morning,

If you’re like me, you’ve actually had been thinking of starting a bullet journal for a while.. but the only problem is that you actually don’t have anything to plan? When all you see across the board are most users using it for appointments, or rendez-vous with friends, or yet again on studyblr with their academics. Here’s a few other ways that we can use them when we don’t have anything like that! ☺️

Journaling

Instead of planning my days ahead, I simply write a few things that happens every day in my weeklies. Most days i’ll write a few things that happened at work, or what I spent most of my days doing.

Hobby tracking

Either as a spread in itself, or simply writing it in the weekly page. To keep track of my reading, I’ll have a page for my seasonal TBRs in front of the first month and i’d also write on the month’s page and in my weekly when I’ve finished which book. Same idea for my blogging, on one page I’ll have all the dates that needs posting and i’ll come fill them up with what goes live when. In addition, I’ll come add onto my weekly page under which date did I scheduled which post.

Though i’m not big on watching netflix, I also like to keep track of my watched series, and also which Gibli movies that i’ve watched with my mother (as i’ve been wanting to see more than just Princess Mononoke that i’ve grew up on).

Budgeting / financials

While I don’t need a budget myself, this is a great tool to do so! As the many other things that I’d write in my weekly, I will write in my “more important” purchases. While I won’t include basic things like soap, shampoo, etc., I will write when I’m buying games, books, clothes, or even pet purchases so I can keep track of what kind I’ve bought and how long it’s been.

Additionally, I will add when I did received my parcels that i’ve ordered online.

Self-care

My mental health makes it harder for me to do little things like brushing teeth.. so a little spread within the weeklies that you can color when you did it helps alot. Although it ended up stressing me more than anything, I will indicate whenever I’ve brushed my animal’s teeth, grinded their nails or even if i’ve taken it relax with a bath & face mask!

Another good thing health-wise to keep track is whenever you feel sick/anxious or in any pain, especially if you’re experiencing chronic pain or a mental disorder. This can be particularly helpful to give you tools to manage the pain or whenever you decide to bring it to a health professional for help – you can now give them specific details & dates!

What else can you use a Bujo for, other than planning?

  1. I love the flexibility of the bullet journal is it´s strongest feature. Here are a few of my things I´ve tried out during my 5+ years of bullet journaling
    – tracking of sleep and health related stuff
    – bucket lists / things to try out (places to go, travels, youtube channels, blogs, whatever)
    – tracking of social life
    – reflect on things that drain your energy or energize you
    – life lessons you need to see summarized for yourself
    – keep track of things that catch your curiosity

    1. Thank you, that’s a lot of good ones!
I’ve experienced a rise of anxiety for tracking things- as I feel like I NEED to do them, and feel bad about myself when I don’t 😅 or forget to fill it in.

      1. XD Kinda same here, I´m on a on & off relationship with tracking, so I either track nothing or too much and half of my trackers stay empty. I think it´s really challenging to find a healthy balance here.
