What 2017 taught/showed me ~

Hello everyone ! so, at first I wasn’t so sure if I did wanted to post it or not; as yes this will have a book section to it (which i’ll put first), but I wanna include more personnal things aswell and this blog do have my booklr’s name.

However, I decided upon doing it anyway as I would want to keep track of this to come back in future years and see if it’s any different. And  I am also part of thoses who like to see more of the person writing the blog even if it’s not all bookish.

So ! if that’s not something you like, feel free to skip this post as a whole; or even just look at the bookish section of it and leave. I won’t mind xx

Without further ado, here’s what 2017 thought me !

In the bookish world;

  • It’s alright to not read what everyone else is.
  • Taking pauses is alright too, although I feel quite uneasy about it still, but it can be done and it’s alright. Reading will gladly take you back when you’re ready!
  • I finally started DNFing books!
  • After reading “I was here” by Gayle forman ; I discovered myself to be loving another genre of books. Thoses who have mentions of mental health/anxiety/depression and/or suicide among the characters. *idk how I should call thoses books yet.. but yeah*
  • I’ve changed my mind towards other book formats ; originally wanting to stick to regular books, now I am contemplating buying a kindle so I could potentially read more. As I finish late, I usually skip reading as I dont wanna go back on my feet to close the light, if Id have a kindle, I wouldn’t need to!

In the real world;

  • Thanks to my horrible previous workplaces, I finally learnt how I should be treated in the workplace with where I am now. However; im still haunted by them and always panic when making a mistake and such… before realizing the way I was treated before won’t happen again.
  • Attached with the first point, I learnt how to be generally happy. Having a job you love truly makes all the difference!
  • I started loving horror movies
  • Contrary of what I always thought; No. i do not want kids, ever, and gonna stick to dachshunds. Upon babysitting my friend’s baby I did realized that nope.. this is not for me and I clearly do not have the temperament for it ..
  • I may not be as “normal” as I thought after all 🤷🏽‍♀️ and not completely claiming it yet, but I find myself to be on the ace spectrum; possibly demisexual. However, the hetero part stays the same. (This one is soo ironic due to where I work.. hahah but eh. Whatevers.)
  • Also, my bad character I had growing up IS coming back !! so that means my medication is indeed working and my mental health is alot better. All I needed was a job I loved, to switch my birth control and I’m getting myself again!
  • That being said; holy do I have lots in common with my father 😂we got new persons working with us, and I caught myself off guard by being too strict with them in my head.. that wasn’t suspected as I trait I did had from him, but guess I do !
  • regardless of what anxiety screamed at me; I do am doing alright in retail (when nobody screams at me ahah) and i’m a pretty damn good seller !
  • lastly – for now- although I do wanna get a relationship.. Im just kinda meh. Im good in solitaire with my two lovely dogs, and I dont really see myself otherwise for now

So 2017 has been hell of a ride .. and yet it’s so hard to believe it’s almost over already ! After having had went throught alot: being unemployed 80% of the year and my younger pup getting sick and almost losing her – this year went really upward ! I got to feel what happiness was after being such in a rough place having dark thoughts .. and im truly glad I didn’t followed them and am still here today. May 2018 bring me more joy, and teaching me more about who I am as a person. We never truly believe them when people say it; but things does get better, and we deserve to feel better – no matter what our brain says xx

  1. Wonderful post!! In the past year I have also just started DNFing books. It’s SO refreshing! And I totally hear you about learning how to be treated in the workplace. I’m still working on that. This year was incredibly rough for my career.

    1. Thank you! Mmhmm… this pas year was rough for work… Took me ages just to get out of unemployment 😥 Hopefully next year will be nicer on us for that ❤️

  3. Agree with you. DNFing is sometimes necessary. I used to force myself to finish and review ALL the books I started. It was torture. I quit doing that and now feel like I enjoy blogging more.

    Thanks for sharing. 😁❤️

  6. I definitely like personal blog posts just as much ad book posts!

    Really glad you got a job that you enjoy. And you are right, things do get better and they will always do. It’s just our brain that make us believe it’s the end of the world when it’s only a bad day or period.

    Wish you all the best!

    Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you! Wishing you all the best aswell ✨

      Yeah heh.. depression don’t really help :/ I was so low I wouldn’t see a future after my bday; so odd to me that it’s gonna be 2018 in a couple days, what !!

      1. That is true. In the moment it is hard to see that things would get better, but maybe we learn throughout the years and from each low point we go through.

  8. It seems like this year brought a lot of good realizations about yourself, and I’m glad 🙂 I’m also very glad to know that you’ve found a suitable workplace, because you’re right – it DOES make ALL the difference! You spend most of your time at work, so it’s incredibly important to feel good there. I hope 2018 is great for you 🙂
