Good Morning!
Time for another review, This one has been on my tbr for a fairly long time, I think.. and I finally picked it up and finished it! 😄 If my memory serves my correctly, I think I got this book upon Sophie @ Beware of the Reader‘s recommendation… I’m almost positive it was hers, but I searched on her blog for a while and didn’t found it- so I may be mistaken; I really should write thoses things down..
4 / 5 stars
The novel honestly wasn’t what I would’ve thought it was.. I however loved the format of a “therapy diary”; where we get Adam’s dosage changes when starting the chapter, to follow with Adam’s “writing” for that session – as he’s refusing to speak to his therapist, and that’s how the story is told to us. Next to the first person direct POV, story-telling through diaries is probably my second favorite!
I loved Adam & Rebecca right away – there’s just something about them that make them real to me, even if one isn’t, and I really warmed up towards Maya. Even though we know from the synopsis he wanna keep appearing “sane” to her and therefore not tell her for his Schizofrenia, I loved to see them together; and i’m even more happy that it got an happy ending and NOT end that she was an hallucination, like the other two novels that i’ve read.. *aherm*
As i’m not a religious person, I appreciated that while they’re attending a Catholic school – so we have the little details of some religion here and there; the story isn’t actually Religion-based as Adam, nor his parents, are really full on religious people. If that’s something that can bother you, it remains fairly tolerable in the background.
This is definitely going on my TBR list! Thank you for sharing this. It sounds like a novel that I would definitely want to read.
Happy to hear! I hope you enjoy it, if you do read it 🙂
