The nice cover is what attracted me to read this one, if i’m being honest – but the story also felt quite compelling!

This book is a YA contemporary romance; which set itself in a cooking competition over the summer that will grant the winner with a scolarship for cooking studies in one of the most prestigious school of the country.

5 / 5 stars = I LOVED this!! Entertaining and that romance hit my sweet spot.

✘ Not my usual pick, but the setting of this being a cooking competition is actually entertaining and interresting; I think this book will appeal lovers of cooking competitions shows !

✘ Oooh I can smell this being a enemy to lover trope – one of my (and many of us’) guilty pleasure !

✘ This book has a nice diversity; different origins, queer and lesbian reps. I however cannot rate how good the reps are, as i’m not one of thoses voices, but it’s nice to see them present and not hidden in any way.

✘ Carter (our main girl) is one of thoses “hit or miss” character, Some will say she’s immature and don’t like her much – I however did like her and related in some way. remember that she’s seventeen; some things seems pretty “normal” to me and younger-17yo-me would had probably behave like that.

I loved how both Carter and Reid are strong headed characters; he’s arrogant and she is ironical and sassy. That romance was everything I love ; nesting itself without guard, in both parties, yet without having “agreed” to it. They try to push it away and just move on (with hate toward each other and mischief) so they can win that challenge, when boom; all goes to hell when the competition needs them to work together !

That first time together in the kitchen was particularly entertaining to read; As being a strong headed person myself, I can totally see that being how I would have reacted. Plus just to imagine them behaving in front of EVERYONE else in the competition is kind of funny.

The romance made me feel like a teenager again; however the competition was very present all until the end, like it should have been. Chugged the remaining 60% until 642am to finish it – Finally a story ending positively. Be warned however; that don’t stop me from shredding some tears 😅
