Book Blogging in a second language; Finding our peers?

Hello guys !

So I guess this is a “new serie” on here now ? ahaha – I just had too much new stuff to say about this okay 😂 So I wanted to split them into two different post, the one right before being about Review Requests in our 2nd language.

 

Previous post where i’ve been talking about (multi) bilinguals bloggers ; “Bilingual Bloggers” & My struggles as a international blogger (mainly focused on me being french)

 

Along the way, I’ve found out that actually a few of my blogging friends can speak french aswell ! Which is always nice to know, I love to share a language with my fellow bloggers – that way, I know that if there’s anything they can always understand me, you know? I can however count them on one hand from the top of my head, so really, not much of us can speak or is french native. (as far as know, anyway)

Ithink it’s pretty normal to want to seek for other people like us within a community, maybe so we can feel a little more “seen” ?

 

I choosed to come into the english book blogging “section” because frankly I have no idea if there’s even a french one.. and as English is my second language, and I wasn’t with Alex yet when I started this, writing a blog is english is always a great exercice and helps to keep the language fresh in our head so we won’t forget it. It was really hard for me to finally understand it, so hell if i’m gonna let it go to waste! 😂 Although it’s a bit more complicated than that as I do need to speak it at work, but speaking and writing isn’t the same, okay.

I know for sure when I was still in the book tumblr community that I have stumbled upon a few that did it in French, but I don’t know why I never really checked here on wordpress.. I mean, sure there must be a French Book Blogging somewhere for the France bloggers, as they do have a Netgalley aswell – although I cannot rip out my own natural french as it’s something mainly other Canadians French can understand. I’m in a wierd stretch it seems, ahaha.

  1. I know fellow Filipino bloggers, but I’m not sure if there is a community for us. I haven’t tried asking them so far, and if there is one. I’m a little bit shy to jump in yet hehe.

  2. If there’s not one you could be just the person to really start up a French Speaking Blogging community! Unfortunately, my answer is really bland, I’m a native English speaker though I am bilingual in Spanish.

    1. I did thought about that! Like a discord or something, but err- im so not the ideal person for that 😂

  3. I am Danish and choose to blog in English even though it is my second language. I actually did a pros and cons list for an English vs Danish book blog. I ended up with an English book blog because 99% of all the books I read is in english. However there is a danish book community but is is of course small. But I am thinking about creating a page on my blog for danish content so I may become a part of the Danish community. :)))
    BTW I love what you have done with your blog! ( I’ve been away for a while)

      Ohh you should! I know some bloggers who juggle posts in both languages, some only in X language, the others in english — OR if you want you can do both languages per post, that’s cool too. I used to do reviews with both fr and eng.. but it was just way too wierd for me 🙈

      Yeah ahaha adding languages get everything even worst 😂🙈 mixing them all together and sometimes losing a word from the targeted language, but knowing what it is in the other ..

  5. This is a fun post! As a native English speaker, I can’t relate to blogging in another language but I really want to start reading in Spanish now and then to keep my skills. I am honestly in awe of bilingual/multi-lingual bloggers!
