Book VS Netflix Mini-serie; Anxious People

Book VS Netflix Mini-serie; Anxious People

Good morning!

To be honest I had no idea Fredrik Backman’s Anxious people had been made as a Netflix show.. Nobody told me! It just happened to show the preview after the movie we were watching as a family was done, and the whole time I was just standing there like «waaait- that ring a bell.. 🤔». When they showed it was based off a novel I just randomly exclaimed «Yes!! I’ve read that !!» 😅

I decided to watch it with mother while dad was gone for work (translated in french).. and although I know the beginning of the book was quite confusing too, I fear she had just no idea of what was going on 🤣. In the book, I like how we were able to see what went on in the police officer Jr’s head.. aswell as how different medias were used.

My favorite part is the one where Lennard tells Zara that love is everywhere; confirmed by all the appartments that are not for sale. It translated to the screen beautifully 🥰, to the small exception that ithink I remember they were on the balcony in the book.

Whenever I was reading, I kept telling myself how nice this novel would be adapted.. and I’m just so happy that they did a 6 episodes mini-serie with it! That way, alot more of the novel got to the screen; having about an episode per character’s flashback.

Overall I really liked that adaptation, made me wanna reread the book! I had fun looking forward to what I knew was gonna happen- trying not to spoil anything to mother, but answering of her speculations by the negative. Furthermore, I like how they kept the detail of not knowing the gender of the robber until the end!

Have you watched it yet, or read the book?
What were your thoughts on them?

  1. It’s always really great when an adaptation does the book justice! I’m glad you enjoyed this one! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yes, it’s beyond dissapointing when they don’t portrait the book accurately! Or decide to not show as much of the book that you would’ve had hoped

    1. Most of us didn’t knew it seems, I’ve seen another blogger say the exact same 😅 Netflix didn’t advertised it at all..
