End of the decenie; Now and then

Good morning,

I still kind of can’t believe it’s the last month of the decenie… and I still don’t know how I feel about that. Originally I wanted to split it between who I was VS now, aswell as my reading habit changes now and then; but I decided against it and i’m just gonna jam it all together in one post instead! 😅

*Also putting this as a BEwinter post, although i’m not entirely sure if it counts or not, as it is relating to the end of the year soo..

2009; 

• I was around 14/15 years old, I was just starting high school in a brand new school as this was also the year my family moved 3hours away from my “childhood” city
• Books stayed by my side in the time before I made any friends; I spent my lunchtimes sat in the hallway of my locker and reading; later moved to the school’s library as I got questionned by fellow students about what in hell I was doing 🙃
• Mainly reading in French, apart of those mandatory reads in english classes (that I actually never finished any, hah!) — I was reading teenage romance and Guillaume Musso’s thrillers alot; only in physical formats.
• Believe it or not.. I was not bilingual then. Although we’ve been learning english since ~7years old, I only grasped the language WAY later than my peers, around mabe 17years old (my senior year or high school)

 

2019; 

• Now about to turn 25 in two weeks (December 27th)
• Became a book blogger; not having more “irl friends” but way more online ones with blogging – sharing the same love for books 💕
• Reading in both my known languages, french & english — I’ve also expanded my genres to contemporaries, YA/NA, and sometimes even fantasy; Reading not only physical books but e-books aswell.
• Of course, i’m now fully bilingual; as you may have guessed as my online blogging presence is mostly done in english 😅

 

 

What happened in this decenie?

◊ Mother’s health started spiralling downward, slowly losing the functions of her kidneys down to barely 10%; needing the use of dialysis.

◊ Got my first relationship experience in senior year; we lasted three months (😂)

◊ Graduated High School [2012]

◊ Enrolled in our French Community College in accounting

◊ Graduated College [2014]

◊ Started my first job ever, in my accounting field

◊ December 2014, had to quit that first job as it was really toxic — Mental health started spiralling downward so much that I needed to take 9 months of regular therapy with a psychologist while staying unemployed. Got diagnosted with Intermediaire Anxiety & Depression, almost crossing the Severe line.

◊ 2015 was probably my lowest point. Anxiety started having negative impact on my body [posted about it here], started taking medications for it (which needed several tries to get it right)

◊ Adopted my two dachshunds [Kafei in 2014, Sheik in 2015], who ended up saving my life. I couldn’t bare the thought of leaving them without their mother, so they are the reason why I never actually attempted anything.

◊ April of 2015, mother finally received a new kidney 💕

◊ Got on the road for a happier me; Finally found the right dosage & combination of meds, got jobs where I felt actually at my place and liked it (Starting with the Sex Shop, to the Café where i’m at now) and officially decided to not follow the field of my diploma.

◊ Started my book blog, gaining some loving friends in the process!

◊ Got my first “adult” relationship; Spent a year together but remained friends

◊ Finally started the procesus to get my driver liscence! Did the classes online, and currently still doing the in-cars with the instructors.

I probably skipped some things, because honestly, I don’t quite remember all of it xD Between 2009 and 2012 is an absolute blur in my mind.. If you look at it, my decenie started horrible, to evolve into an “in-between” to evolve into so much better!
