How I use my BuJo & Pros / Cons

How I use my BuJo & Pros / Cons

Good morning,

If you are like me, you might be wary of actually starting a Bullet Journal even though you’d want to; just because you aren’t sure of what you could do with it.. Well! As I do some little things a bit differently (specially in my weekly spreads), I wanted to generally say what I do in mine so maybe it will give you the extra push and help you seeing what you could do in yours !

How I use it;

~ As I am a “Book” blogger, I have a page where I write down which book I read this year in the beginning of the bullet, as well as a page each month where I write my posting days, with what I wanna post and what’s in my drafts/ideas I get throughout the month so I can take them back at a later date.

~ Since June, I’ve added a “deadlines” page; So I can see when my arc’s or library books are due so I can read them accordingly and hopefully have them ready on time. Could be modifyed for big tests or projects if you are in schools/university.

~ In my habit tracker, I have decided upon having four main categories of things I wanna track; Blogging, reading, my dachshunds and myself. You can add anything else you’d wanna remind yourself to do here.

~ Now my weekly spread is where I do stuff “wierdly”. Instead of planning ahead on my days (hourly or not), what I do is I just write ahead what days I work and etc. but then I go in and “update” that day on what I did.

Anything goes; what I bought that day, how I felt, how work went (and tips for that day), what post(s) I scheduled, I even put myself and the weein’s weight ! Basically anything I’d want to remind myself of for whatever reason; might it be to see how much time a thing I bought lasted me, or to compare if we gain/lost weight since the last time.

My reasons behind that is I just have nothing to plan for.. I’m not in school so no tests or homework for me, and neither does being a barista xD Using it like a little “daily journal” is the thing that works best for me and make sure I do write in it.

~ Also, no worries if you aren’t artistic ! really. I barely have any doodles in mine but on my calender page.. the rest of my pages are pretty plain. Only thing that matters here is using it.

Pros ;

~ With how customize you can make it, you can have all the pages you want; and all in ONE book. No need to have a pre-made planner, and another one added as you don’t have the place for it in the 1st planner.. all is put together in one and you are good to go!

Of course, I like my days in my weekly pages and my habit trackers to be full.. so when it’s not, I feel bad about it and it pushes me onto doing it. and I mean, it works! As I am someone who needs to be told what to do, my habit tracker is a really good tools to “remind” me to do some things, in a way.

~ If something isn’t doing your thing, just switch it next month ! Nothing is set and stones and you don’t need to have all the same setting for all of them.

Cons ;

~ It gets addictive. I bring it with me everywhere in the house so I can easily add stuff in it and look at my Habit tracker like 20times a day xD

How do you use/plan to use yours ?
Any pros or cons I missed ?

  1. Cons for me is when I sometimes forgot or am too lazy to fill habit tracker and I’m trying to remember what i did few days ago to finally fill it. Another con is that if you find out you have a test or something on January and you’re only in November so naturally you haven’t done January spreads yet so you can’t add the exam date yet.

    Pro is that you can do whatever lists you want to. You can have collections like birthdays, blog ideas, movies you’ve watched this year, blog stats etc all in their own pages. I personally have habit tracker, weekly, post schedule, days i’m at school/ working and finance tracker every month. I like it that there’s no rules. You can do whatever is best for you.

  2. A con I really don’t like is you can only plan for the current month. I’m the type of person who plans ahead and likes to see it visually, so it’s annoying somewhat when i can’t do that in my bujo and have to lug around another planner.

    But I really love how you can literally do anything with it. I use mine for lists and book blogging and I like how i have everything there in one place. xD

    1. Aww i see.. im not one to plan too too much ahead so im fine with that 😂

      Yes!! Me too, though usually im one to want one thing per notebook only.. thats my exception!

  3. I do most of these on a spreadsheet and use my BuJo mainly to write my day to day to do list. Just so that I can ahve the pleasure of striking out once the job is done.

  4. I haven’t opened my bullet journal in a couple of months because we’ve been so busy and traveling for work and prayers, and I just have NO TIME, so I find myself not doing some of the things I’m supposed to be doing. I miss it, but also I haven’t found the time to do my layouts. Lol.

    1. Feel free to hover on my “BuJo” category on the menu on top of my blog; my pages for November has been published last week ! 🙂
      I also have a couple prior months, too ! xx

  5. I love seeing how other people use a bullet journal! I attempted to make one at the beginning of the year but I’m not patient enough or artsy enough to make it look pretty!

  6. I am amazed at how organized you are! I post things when I feel it, the only constant being the weekly memes!

    1. Yay !!
      Yeah .. sometimes I feel “eh” about how not cool it is compared to others but ah well xD The most important is using it – maybe one day.

Say something 💕
