Meet Me in Cockleberry Bay ~ Nicola May β Spoiler-Free Review
Heey!
If you remember, Nicola had contacted me last year to read and review the first of this duology: The Cornershop in Cockleberry Bay.
I was sadly not contacted to read this sequel, but I just loved the first one so much that I felt like going back in Cockleberry Bay while in vacation π Β In fact, this is the very first e-book i’m buying!
4 / 5 stars
Although it is technically winter in some parts of the novels, her two books just screams summer reading for me (and you know that I don’t typically have season-based reads !). While it deals with a quite heavy subject, Alcoolism, it remains a light and easy read; however succeeding at making you go through various feelings and at time, giving you the best little life lessons through Rosa’s journey.
Yet again, She just absolutely aced Hot’s dachshund traits. Being a sausage dog’s owner myself, I did had to share a few of those quotes (specially the “revenge poop” that made me cackle in the plane!) with other dachshund’s parents and all agreed to it being quite accurate.
It was lovely to re-visit Cockleberry Bay, along with all the loving characters. I can’t say that I loved this one more than the first one though, but I definately love them both and will re-read them in the future!
Lovely review! I’m glad you really enjoyed this one, and YAY for e-books! Haha! It’s great to hear that this one balanced the heavy subject matter of alcoholism with light heartedness.
I hope you’ve been having a wonderful week! <3
Thank you !
Iknow, eh ? furthermore, there were just so many quotes on true loved that I adored.
I hope your week has been wonderful aswell xx
YAY your first ebook purchase!! β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ I’m so glad that you loved how she portrayed the dachshund too! It’s neat when authors go the extra mile to get details right and that you enjoyed this so much,
yes ! and it’s particularly important for a dachshunds owner. It’s amazing how she didn’t let Hot go to the background, he even star in his own chapter !! (and, yep, I did cried at that one – ahah the usual! )
