New year, new book buying & un-hauling habits

Good morning!

The new year is here, along with it’s new set of motivation & reading challenges; We might as well look onto our book buying & un-hauling habits and see if there’s something we can do better.

Disclaimer; ofcourse you don’t need to keep or buy a huge amount of books in order to be a “proper” book blogger. I’m in a good place financially where I can allow myself to splurge and buy books whenever I want- and it makes me feel good to grow my book collection.

Book buying;

I’m not one to do book buying bans, nor that I have to. Instead, I wanna focus on what type of books that I need to balance; as I do have my challenge of reading as much in French as I do in english. Currently, a good part of my books are in english; so that throw the ratio quite alot- considering that my libby app barely has any french books on it.

Which means that I should concentrate into buying more french books for the time being; otherwise my challenge won’t go too well if I don’t have much french books to actually read 😅 (Although I could reread my old ones..)

Un-hauling books;

As I did a big un-haul before the end of the year, where the only area that I didn’t touch was my unread shelf, I wanna concentrate on un-hauling them as I go. While re-organizing your shelves and remove thoses you no longer want periodically in the year is a good practice, I aim to do so after every book that I pick up; especially with how I only touched upon my read ones.

Whenever I finish a book this year, I wanna decide if I wanna keep it or not. Whenever the book had been just okay or dissapointing, I want to get rid of it immediately.. rather than piling them up again and having to do another big flush later.

Have you set any goal regarding your book collecting this year?
How do you usually un-haul your books?

  1. Whenever I finish a book, I always unhaul it if I didn’t like it and I don’t plan to reading it again.

    1. Yes; that’s what I do too now. I believe it’s quite a good practice, so we don’t have to unhaul too much of them from our shelves after a while 😅 and hey- more space!!

    1. That’s fair, ahah- I don’t receive much bookmail 😅 now Ive bought books twice, I shall not buy any more in a while ahah

Say something 💕
