Reading Challenges Wrap-up (2021)
Good morning!
It isn’t quite mid-month yet, but ithink i’m ready to go over my reading challenges of 2021 and compile the results! At most, i’d only add 2 or 3 books that I finish this month- so that’s not too too bad.
I had only partake in three challenges this year, following this post, as we know I don’t like to get anxious too much about reading anymore- and I’m not sure I can do some overly complicated ones like popsugar or the alphabet one.
☑️ Goodread Challenge; reading 20 books
I am currently sitting at 29 books read! 😄 I’m so proud of my progress, as back in 2017 I had failed to read 10 books; only managing to read 5.
I had quite enjoyed all of them; some being 3stars, but none that I particularly disliked or DNFed this year. I’ve read many favorites too, and lots involving the bookish world! 🥰
☑️ #Beat the Backlist, hosted by NovelKnight ; 10 books out of 20
For safety measures, I aimed to only have about half of my reading to be a backlisted book, leaving myself some space for new releases.
Again, this was a frank success! Out of the 29 books read, 21 books has been a backlist – leaving only 7 to be new releases, one started in 2019:
- Gardez l’oeil ouvert, tome 2
- Talk bookish to me
- The comfort book
- Last chance books
- We can’t keep meeting like this
- Slingshot
- One last stop
☑️ Audiobook Challenge, hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer & That’s what i’m talking about ; Level 1, Newbie (1-5 books)
This could’ve been so much higher, but I technically succeeded reading 2 books via audio!
- Again, but better
- You know me well
My count isn’t as wholesome as some others book bloggers within the community, but I am quite happy with my slowly rising numbers 😄 One year at a time, I might get to 50 books one day. I tend to pick up more physical & ebooks, not as much audio as I always fear that i’d zone out while doing something else and just not register what I just read rofl.. especially if i’m doing something like driving, so that won’t help me at all.
I’m not sure what i’m gonna join for 2022 yet, but i’m gonna push a bit higher on my goodread challenge for sure; aiming now to read 30 books – more on my actual challenges of 2022 later in the months as i’ll see more of them popping up.
How did your reading challenges for 2021 went?
Do you have any ideas for your 2022 ones yet? what are they?
Congrats!! Way to go at completing your goals. My reading habits have completely changed due to the pandemic and now most of the books I’ve read this year has been via audio. I used to never listen because I too would zone out but I slowly started listening a couple years ago by rereading some favorites (and like I said now I mostly do audiobooks). It takes time, but I’ve been able to train my brain and can listen at 1.5-1.75x speed even.
That’s so cool! I know it can usually work when im gaming at like sims or something.. but thats it for now 😅 ahah
That’s great you didn’t have any you disliked or dnf’d!! 😀
Right? 😄 it was a good year
I only set the Goodreads challenge. I had it for 120 books, but bumped it up to 200. I’m hoping to reach it soon! Ooh Last Chance Books is on my list to read! I listened to the audio for One Last Stop and really enjoyed it.
Oh wow thats wonderful! Hopefully you do reach it!
Ahh hopefully youd enjoy it as much as I did :3 I just.. absolutely LOVE books that contain bookish characters somuch (bookblogger, bookstagram, anything!)
Wow, that is so cool that you didn’t particularly dislike any book you’ve read this year!
I have the same concern with audiobooks – I have to really pay attention to make sure I am not zoning out, haha!
Congratulations on completing your reading goals! 😀
Thank you 🥰
Yes im surprised too! Though there is some books I read that I rated 3stars and on lookout it didn’t gave me quite what id wanted.. but I can still say I enjoyed the ride while reading!
OMG YAY for finishing your goal and also doing well on the other challenges you attempted! All the best with your 2022 reading challenge!
Thank you!! You aswell xx
