The library of lost things ~ Laura Taylor Namey β Book review
Helloo ~
With myself not feeling to well, I gotta say it took me way more time than I would’ve liked to finish this book π but alas, we got it!
One book off of my spring tbr that i’ve finished π« hoping to do better this time than the winter tbr fiasco..
4 βοΈ / 5 stars
Keep or unhaul? Keep!
I really loved how Darcy was ingrained with words, memorizing stories into her mind and getting comfort in them when everything went wrong in her daily life. Even better, she has a job in a library after school! The last scenes with the play was marvelous π₯° you definately see how she got a talent with words.
Her mother being a hoarder and her dad dissapearing on them, that’s her coping mecanism. That’s the first novel I see that include hoarders and how the people around them might feel, the shame attached to it; and I like it for it as it’s definately more common than we think!
Darcy & Asher definately felt like they had something “more” from the start, although the fact that we know he’s still with another girl all this time makes me a bit uncomfortable… especially how he hints that he might not be Β«actually in loveΒ» at some point. How they both just SEE each other, and everything comes naturally & comfortably. No pretending or hiding.
Marisol’s character is so beautifully written – Darcy’s adopted family; how Marisol’s mother just went and took poor little Darcy like hers with the cupcakes story is just β€οΈβ€οΈ One of the greatest true friendship i’ve ever read. So much like my own, the only person she’d trust to see the hoard, the truth under her lies.. at her side through thick & thin.
The ending made me bawl my eyes out- I would’ve not piece together who the secret Peter Pan’s writer was.. A happy ending, full of self-confidence & recovery.
Yes yes yes ahh, I love this review. <3 I really enjoyed the characters so much in that one, and the friendship was the softest ever, definitely one of my favorites ever as well. So happy you enjoyed this!!
Thank you Marie! π
We love to see pure and strong friendships like this one ππΌππΌ
