The love hypothesis – Ali Hazelwood ☆ Review

Good morning!

Another book off my Spring TBR, though okay fine the first one had been a free audiobook space 😅.. this time a quite hyped one that I’ve seen mainly positive, but also a few negative ones.

5 / 5 stars!!

At first, I was kinda worrying of not liking it; as it combined both a big age gap (8yrs apart) aswell as a teacher/student type of dynamic.. however, I could easily put that aside as Olive is 26years old (so in no way is a minor involved- two consenting adults). Adam is in no way involved directly to her either, having his own set of students and all that; the dean got asked and said it wasn’t an issue as long as he wasn’t her advisor, on the premise that he couldn’t be in any formal setting involving her.

The fact that I later knew that Olive identify as Demisexual (only sexually attracted to someone when she has a deep connection) was also a good point for me- as I am in the process of exploring this side of things aswell, so it was neat to see her fake-to-real relationship evolution.

The sunshine/grumpy trope was absolutely perfect!! I loved adam’s cynical personality, and a few of his actions would actually be something that I would’ve had done too 😅 Like the moment at the very start where he just said « ah, okay then. » when Olive tried to answer him that no, she did not just kiss him.

The way his usual moody self would just get sweeter with Olive, and when he said that although she knew about them from other students, that maybe he’d wanted to spare her them (!!) — everything about that was just so precious. 💕  While Olive had the same way of thinking that I do, with clear anxiety & poor self-esteem.

Many things within the novel was also quite hilarious and had me chuckling in my head, being a light and enjoyable read.

Though I can see how joking around a very serious matter as the Title XI could be seen badly.. I have to say i’d be the type of person who’d shamely do it too, in those circumstances- ofcourse it would’ve been of bad taste hasn’t we gotten the setting of the « guy in the bathroom » and if Adam didn’t actually liked her back.
