When the stars lead to you ~ Ronni Davis ☆ Review
Good Morning!
Time for another review ~ yet another book that I discovered via the blogosphere, and although it’s been sitting on my shelves “only” since around the christmas time, It’s one of thoses that I definately should’ve gotten to it earlier!
4 / 5 Stars
* Trigger warning; suicide attempt
The novel starts with a glimpse of what happened that summer, their summer, and we get back to real time- two years afterward. We then get to know the little details in flashes aswell as coming to understand what really happened that summer.
I absolutely love the relationship between Devon and her parents. They deeply love and help each other, no matter what happens.
As for Dev & Ashton’s relationship, I absolutely adore how strong their love is. Making both parties push through no matter what- not even family or depression/circumstances can come between them, even if Devon doesn’t quite understand his depression. The passion and love that they’re showing to each other is so warming to me.
The depression rep was pinpoint onto my own experience with it; although this does not make his actions pass, as it’s still wrong, I understand where that’s coming from. I’ve been on both side of that medal: the one trying to help a depressed person, and the one being depressed and pushing everyone off as we think that we do deserve that dark consuming us…
The book portrays how it is to love someone with depression in real life. It isn’t always a fun thing, and it may come in waves aswell — one day your person is absolutel fine, while on another they are drowning, while still being a passionate and bubbly person in general.
