My birthday book haul! (2021)
Heey!
As per our tradition, I did received my bookstore giftcard this year too to celebrate my 27years of life ☺️ I got two giftcards this year, for the usual “amount” in halves; French books being tad pricier, I sadly could only get one book per card..
The amazing thing with this however, is that with my VIP membership card, I got extra % off on them (few had a discount already), and used $10 worth of points.. so I paid a rather small amount for my 3books. This is a paid membership but man- so worth it!
I took into consideration my two extra challenges I’m taking this year, so reading more French books (atleast half of my read..) aswell as prioritizing some genres that I don’t usually pick out. Out of the three books, only one of them has an english counterpart.. and though i’ve been effy about getting it- I just went ahead and got it as it’s been one book that I constantly picked up soo 🤣 about time I got it.
All covers would be taken from Goodread, as in the time i’m writing this they haven’t arrived yet. I choosed not to go out and order them online as per high covid rate..
♥ La tête hors de l’eau (Swimming Lessons), Lili Reinhart [GR]
That’s a non-fiction poetry book including depression & anxiety; Translated, but it does checks both challenges.. I don’t normally buy poetry books, which is why I pushed off buying it for so long, so I took the plunge.
♥ 12 mois sans intérêts, Catherine Lepage [GR]
Again, A non-fiction book about depression.. though i’m not sure which form it takes? it’s either poetry or graphic novel, maybe both? Regardless, both are books that I don’t usually buy for myself. So very much fitting too!
♥ Gardez l’oeil ouvert, Victoria Charlton [GR]
If you remember, I’ve talked about the second one on here before – as I did read the second but not the first one, as I couldn’t find it 😅 A true-crime book filled with 15 cold cases stories; only the second of the like on my shelves, as I recently discovered them with her novels.
I really went on a non-fiction spree this time.. which is maybe the easiest to get for my goal of reading differently than i’m used to. And all in french, as i’m seriously lacking somes on my shelf now, being dissapointed by them and usually in the mood for english readings 😅
I’m hopeful those will be good reads, as I read the 2nd tome of the last one, and for being non-fictions about anxiety & depressions.. I usually really like thoses.
Have you bought or got any books for the holidays?
Let me know xx
Happy belated birthday!! 🥳 I hope you enjoy your goodies 🙂
