Reflection Time 💭

Good morning!

We are starting right into #BookendingWinter for my first post ! We are gonna do Laurie @ Laurie’s Bookshelf’s post for the 2nd of December. [Her post right here]

➔ Reflection time
December is here and that means it’s time to look back on the past year. How was your 2019 regarding books? Did you haul too many books? Did you have a great reading year? Too many (E)ARCs left? And did you pass your reading challenge? Furthermore, it’s time to look forward. What goals would you like to reach in the last month of 2019? Certain books you want to read before 2020 is upon us? Do you have reading goals for 2020? So, let’s reflect on your bookish 2019!

♦ 2019 was a pretty good reading month for me, although I set my reading goal at only 15 to not stress myself too much about it, I’ve went above it by 11 books so far !! There were months where I read 3/4books, and then some where I only read 1 or 2, but overall I did reached my reading goal and went beyond so i’m happy 😄

♦ My e-arcs/Review requests thrones at ZERO currently 👏🏼 My last one that had gotten quite out of control on the wait time period has been “Screamcatcher Web World”; but since I posted my review, I haven’t taken on anything else thus far.

♦ I actually needed to go check my twitter to verify how many books I bought this year, hahah — and i’m quite proud to report it has only been six; Meet me in Cockleberry Bay, Star-Crossed, The chaos of standing still, Celle qui lisait dans mes pensées, Solitaire & Notes on a nervous planet. Out of them, I’ve read only two though.. Solitaire & Meet me in cockleberry bay, so quite a few had been added on my un-read shelf 😅 woops.

♦ I had a personal goal to read more daytime .. which I’d say it had gotten *better*, but still gotta do some ameliorations to be able to finish as many books as some of the other bloggers out there.

♦ Also out of curiosity, let’s make a countdown of how many books i’ve read in each of my known languages, shall we ?
French – [8] VS English – [18] ; I’m honestly surprised. Compared to when I didn’t read any, I jumped straight to reading 18 of them! (though I don’t recall how many i’ve read in 2018 right now..)

Goals for the next reading year;

  1. Read more daytime instead of solely before sleep [again]
  2. Try atleast one audiobook!!
  3. Raising the Goodread Goals to 20; let’s try to go for half/half of french & english

What’s your reading goals for 2020?

  1. oooh this looks like so much fun to do, and hey congrats on going above and beyond your reading goal!! It sounds like you did really really well this year! I overbought books and over-requested ARCs, so I’m just drowning in books lol

    1. Thank you !
thought books are the best things to be drowining in, ahaha. I still have 23 unread books on my shelf 😅 but i’m pretty good at alterning something I own VS something from my library

  2. Congrats! You’ve got some great goals! I just started listening to audiobooks this year, and they’re still really hit or miss for me! I’ve started trying to get up earlier and reading before I go to work, it seems to be working! Because then I’m not so tired from staying up late to finish a book!

    1. yeah.. i’m one to get really bothered by certain kind of voices.. so I need to listen to make sure the voice that read it isn’t going on my nerves XD or else that’s gonna be one hell of a long time ..
ohh yeah that works! I actually did that yesterday 🙂 as I was only working at 230pm I forced myself to get moving and did both my exerciced and some reading done!

  3. Congrats on hitting your goals! That’s always such a fantastic feeling, I’m so happy for you! I definitely went a bit um… my book haul was over the top, but I took advantage of all the price drops that I could, in my defense. What are some of the french books you want to try? I’m looking for recommendations 😀 Happy reading!!

    1. Thank you ! It really is, specially if you weren’t so sure to hit it. (or you know, WAY before the end xd)
ahahah well that’s okay, being surrounded by books is another fantastic feeling 😘

Mmmh- that’s a hard one, I only have a few of them on my shelves currently (been going more for english lately, haven’t found any great ones).. But Guillaume Musso dropped a new novel not so long ago, and while I kinda stopped reading them i’m kinda tempted. It’s called “La vie secrète des écrivains”

  4. Well done for no arc requests!! I’m definitely wanting to read more this month. I’ve been super lacking the past few weeks and need to get them all done. It’s good that you’re reading both French and English!

    1. Yep.. same actually XD I gravitate towards 1-2 books per month and errh.. I kind of don’t like that?
I’ve been preorizing english this past year, probably because of blogging and you know, hyped books being english only xD My libby also has way more interesting books in eng. rather than french — but I don’t want my French reading to go away, specially how there’s some really good ones from Quebec available only in french! (and my brain do need the break.. ahah)
