End-of-year Book ask game

Good morning!

I found this one through tumblr, made my @BookOfmirth, and I wanted to use it to answer it all in one post rather than answer them through asks giving me only certain numbers šŸ˜…

I do prefer this one compared to the other ones iā€™ve seen floating around, as the questions does fit better than the other ones iā€™ve seen ā€” the lot of them asking fantasy-related questions alot and wellā€¦ I donā€™t do fantasy.

Ā

Because iā€™m a forgetful person, iā€™m gonna look through my goodread account aswell as my challenges wrap-up to help me answer all of thoses šŸ˜…

Ā

Ā

1. How many books did you read this year?

I read a total of 29 books so far! Compared to the 25 of last year.

Ā

2. Did you reread anything? What?

I sadly didnā€™t have any reread this year! despite being SO tempted to do it, it was one of thoses things I always pushed off..

Ā

3. What were your top five books of the year?

Thatā€™s a hard one.. Letā€™s say- The upside of falling, Last chance books, We canā€™t keep meeting like this, First in & I killed Zoe Spanos.

Ā

4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?

Yes, Rachel Lynn Solomon would be one! I read both Our year of maybe aswell as We canā€™t keep meeting like this from her this year, and I also recently boughtĀ Today tonight tomorrow.

Ā

5. What genre did you read the most of?

Definately YA.. and romance. Though I read quite alot of thriller too- you know, the regulars for me šŸ˜…

Ā

6. Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to?

Oh yesh, Thereā€™s still so many books on my shelves šŸ¤£Ā but not one in particular, the only set list that I have would be my Winter Tbr.

Ā

7. What was your average Goodreads rating? Does it seem accurate?

Yee, it does seems accurate- Before seeing that My year in books 2021Ā was indeed out, I wouldā€™ve guessed 4something.

Ā

8. Did you meet any of your reading goals? Which ones?

I did finished my Goodread goal, #AudiobookChallenge2021 aswell as #BeatTheBacklist2021! AS you can see in my Reading challenge wrap up post šŸ™‚

Ā

9. Did you get into any new genres?

The only one that isnā€™t really what I usually read was an anthology of true crime cold cases; collected and published by one of my favorite true crime youtuber.

Ā

10. What was your favorite new release of the year?

Oof- I only read 7 new releases this year, and most of them were in my top 5 of question earlier.. šŸ˜…Ā One last stop was also really good too!

Ā

11. What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read?

DefinatelyĀ I killed Zoe Spanos, Iā€™d say!

Ā

12. Any books that disappointed you?

Sadly the French Quebec books that I read nowadays arenā€™t as fantastic as they seemed to be growing up.. This year this has beenĀ On peut-tu rester amis?

Ā

13. What were your least favorite books of the year?

A second one that fell flat for me has beenĀ If youā€™re out there.. I just expected so much more than this?

Ā

14. What books do you want to finish before the year is over?

I just wanna finish my current read, honestly, iā€™d be happyĀ šŸ˜…Ā Which isĀ Christmas at Cockleberry Bay

Ā

15. Did you read any books that were nominated for or won awards this year (Booker, Womenā€™s Prize, National Book Award, Pulitzer, Hugo, etc.)? What did you think of them?

I- honestly canā€™t tell šŸ¤Ā I do live under a rock.. never knowing whatā€™s new released and all that..

Ā

16. What is the most over-hyped book you read this year?

The midnight Library; and I gotta say even if I found it so much more harsh in the begining, Iā€™m one of those readers who did enjoyed it.

Ā

17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

Iā€™m 95% sure there is.. but I donā€™t remember which one(s) in particular ahah woops.

Ā

18. How many books did you buy?

Okay letā€™s see: I did four book haul posts this year (1, 2, 3, 4), plus the last haul I posted on insta.. Making it 23 books bought this year.

Ā

19. Did you use your library?

I did!! Though only the app version, through Libby. Iā€™ve loaned 2 ebooks & 2audiobooks- I concentrated more on reading the ones I had on my shelves this year, it seems.

Ā

20. What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations?

I donā€™t often have anticipated releases.. but I was REALLY hyped for the Comfort book, having read all the other non-fiction books by Matt Haig. I rated it 5 stars, it was pretty good!

Ā

21. Did you participate in or watch any booklr, booktube, or book twitter drama?

Not sure if itā€™s because of my tad-wierd timezone or what, but I always arrive after-the-fact and miss all the drama šŸ¤£Ā Iā€™d just spot a few tweets talking about the drama, so I know Iā€™d miss something, but thatā€™s it.

Ā

22. Whatā€™s the longest book you read?

Apparently it had beenĀ Almost AdultsĀ @ 476 pages.

Ā

23. Whatā€™s the fastest time it took you to read a book?

Euuh.. I am a slow reader, so ithink it should be around a week for a novel book? Though if itā€™s poetry or anthology I can read it in a few days.

Ā

25. Did you DNF anything? Why?

Though Iā€™d wanted to for some of them.. I didnā€™t this year!

Ā

26. What reading goals do you have for next year?

So far, I only know my Goodread one. Which would be set to read 30books.

Ā
